Sermon Series on “Unstoppable: The Resurrection Road with Acts of the Apostles,” April 12-May 17, 2026

From Salem’s March Shalom, Monthly Newsletter

Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen indeed! Alleluia!! Happy Easter!!

The joy of Easter, the heartbreak of Good Friday, the quiet power of Maundy Thursday, the triumphal entry of Palm Sunday… It is one of my favorite parts of the year, to walk through Holy Week and Easter with Salem’s flock. Shouts of “hosanna” turn to shouts of “crucify him” as Jesus completes his walk to the cross for our sake in Holy Week. The depths of Jesus’ love for us on the cross lead him to conquer all that defies God and all that seeks to break God’s promises. In the cross and resurrection, Jesus defeats the power of sin, death, and all brokenness, so that life has the final word, not death. WOW! Just take a minute and let that sink in. Abundance has the final word, not scarcity. Salvation has the final word, not sin. From these truths we find our hope and our purpose. Every day! Jesus’ new life propels us forward, not to forget the past, but to believe in the hope of a better day as we both honor the past and face the future together with Resurrection joy.

It’s in this spirit that the word “Unstoppable” comes to mind. When Jesus bursts from the tomb on Easter morning, his Good News is not nearly unstoppable—it IS unstoppable! God’s mission has no “power down” function, and all through the 6-week Easter season we will reflect on this unstoppable Gospel.

In this “Unstoppable” sermon series we’ll hear how Paul and other apostles in the Book of Acts share the Good News throughout the ancient world after Jesus’ resurrection. Acts is a book of the New Testament full of adventure, evangelism, harrowing odds, generous people, and a tenacious hope in Jesus Christ. I hope you soak in every verse as we look toward a new day in Christ. Maybe, just maybe, the last snowflake will melt and all of creation and the bugs and green buds will cry out with us that glorious Easter morn – Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen indeed! Alleluia!!
